GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. – Eight months after closing two lanes of Henley Road for repair work, Clay County officials announced Wednesday that the lanes are ready to be reopened.
The repairs were needed after a road-widening project near the bridge caused damage to the southbound lanes.
Two southbound lanes on the road have been closed between Rideout Lane and Asbury Trace since April 8.
The Clay County Board of County Commissioners announced Wednesday that the repairs on the lanes are done and the normal traffic pattern on the road will resume at 1 p.m. Friday.
“We recognize that this has been a significant inconvenience and are delighted to announce that Henley Road reopens to four-lane traffic,” Chairman Gavin Rollins said.
“Clay County citizens, like you, I was impacted by the Henley Road repairs,” Commissioner Gayward Hendry, District 5, said. “I personally thank you for your patience and cooperation during this project. Christmas came early to Clay County with the opening of both Henley Road and County Road 218.”
Commissioners opened County Road 218 last week after the road was closed as a result of damage sustained from Hurricane Irma.
